Josie Alford is a Bristol-based poet and event host. Her poetry fuses the techniques of spoken and written poetry. Having completed an MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa, she is currently working on publishing a poetry collection about the death of her father.
I’ve had poems published in Ink, Sweat and Tears, Obsessed with Pipework, Stand Magazine, Flint the MA Creative Writing Anthology, and The Result Is What You See Today: Poems About Running – The Poetry Business Anthology.
I’ve had feature sets at the following events and Festivals: Raise The Bar, Sprout Spoken, Sofar Sounds Cambridge, Tonic, Milk Poetry, Worcester Speakeasy, Stirchley Speaks, Hammer and Tongue, Sharp Teeth, To Be Frank, Poetry+, Rhyme and Reason, That’s What She Said, Blah Blah Blah, Womad, Bristol Harbour Fest, Valley Fest and Nozstock.
“Josie Alford is one of the new wave of spoken word performers; sassy, intelligent young women who knock the gatekeepers of ‘proper poetry’ off their dusty pedestals.”
